Team Troon On Tour: Thomas and Fitzpatrick with Top 15’s at WM Phoenix Open

Troon - Team Troon On Tour

PGA TOUR- WM Phoenix Open

Despite encountering weather delays in Scottsdale that left some players having to play much more than the normal 18 holes a day, it was another year for the books at the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was great to have so many Team Troon members in the field this week. Low Team Troon member was Justin Thomas who finished T12 at -12, followed by Matt Fitzpatrick at T15 and Alex Noren at T53. Props to Matt Fitzpatrick on making birdies on 5 out of the last 6 holes of his second round and carding a bogey free round on round 4.

Birdie Tracker from Team Troon: 67 birdies total all week!

  • T12 Justin Thomas: 69-65-70-68 = 272 / -12
  • T15 Matt Fitzpatrick: 69-66-70-68 = 273 / -11
  • T53 Alex Noren: 69-66-70-68 = 280 / -4

COMING UP

PGA TOUR – Genesis Open

The PGA TOUR is heading back to California in beautiful Pacific Palisades and Riviera Country Club. This week we are well represented with four Team Troon members in the field Matt Fitzpatrick, Matt Kuchar, Justin Thomas and Gary Woodland along with Troon investor/supporter in Rory McIlroy. This particular event has been held since 1926, make it almost 100 years old!

Fun fact: this event was where Jack Nicklaus won his first professional paycheck in 1962. It was then called the LA Open and his check he earned that week: $33.33

PGA TOUR Champions – Chubb Classic

After a little break, the PGA TOUR Champions  is back to competition and will be picking up at Troon-managed Tiburón Golf Club (Black Course) in Naples, Florida. Tiburón has been the host of this event since 2021. We are looking forward to watching Team Troon member Colin Montgomerie and also looking forward to seeing the course on the Golf Channel and watching our colleagues put on another amazing Chubb Classic at Tiburón Golf Club

Shareable

The WM Phoenix Open is especially special to #TeamTroon member Gary Woodland as this marks their 5th year meeting up with Amy Bockerstette in the desert to reflect on their friendship that started back in 2019. Amy is currently an American competitive amateur golfer is the first person with Down syndrome to both receive an athletic scholarship to attend college as well as compete in a national collegiate championship.
