Attentively Inclusive With Jasmine Lam
Jasmine Lam
Assistant General Manager
Alhambra Golf Course
Troon Value:
Especially at our golf course, being attentively inclusive resonates with me the most. We are home to all different types of players – whether it be 10-year-olds to 95-year-olds, beginners or amateurs. It’s great to witness the growth amongst them.
Q: How long have you worked at the property and/or Troon in general and what has been your career progression thus far?
A: I’ve been working at Alhambra Golf Course for about 7 years now and 5 years with Troon. I started off as a guest service attendant then gradually worked up to Assistant General Manager.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: The community is what I love most. Every time I come in, there’s always a couple of golfers that I see regularly and love talking to. It’s great to get to know them beyond just being a golfer in our shop.
Q: What gives you the greatest challenge every day or in your job that you’re learning from?
A: Truthfully, I’m a bit of a people-pleaser so the biggest challenge is making sure I stand my ground when needed. It was tough for me to adjust at first, especially because I was close in age with a lot of the staff that I was then managing.
Q: What do you do to share the work opportunity with other women?
A: I always say that I’d love to meet more women in the industry and in doing so, I really advocate for women to be in the space. I’m part of a couple Facebook pages for women in golf that I love going on and connecting with.
Q: What is something that not many people know about you that you’d like to share?
A: Most people ask if I normally play golf in my free time, but I’ve recently gotten into hockey and I’m training for a marathon now!
