Hosts Never Quit Dreaming

Q: What is the official name of the organization you all worked with?

We worked with Never Quit Dreaming (@neverquitdreaming), the first autism center in Hawaii, dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals with special needs.

How did this event come about at Pearl?

The event at Pearl at Kalauao (previously Pearl Country Club) was made possible through the collaboration with Tyler Christian Campbell from the Pilau Golf Association. Tyler, who leads their annual golf tournament, generously donates a portion of their tournament proceeds to Never Quit Dreaming. His support enabled the program to acquire the necessary equipment for snag golf. Tyler then connected with our head golf professional, Cyd Okino, to integrate Pearl as the first golf facility to partner with this initiative, allowing us to host the inaugural golf program for the kids and their families.

Will you be hosting another event in 2025?

Yes, we plan to host another event in 2025 and look forward to welcoming participants back to our newly renovated practice greens and facility.

What is one takeaway from your team in hosting an event to give these kids access to the golf facility/game of golf?

One key takeaway for our team is the profound impact of inclusivity and support in sports. Seeing these kids engage with golf and enjoy the experience reinforces how crucial it is to provide opportunities that allow them to shine and build confidence in a nurturing environment.

What is one non-golf takeaway that you wanted the kids to walk away learning?

Beyond golf skills, we hoped the kids would learn the value of perseverance and teamwork. By participating in this program, we aimed for them to gain a sense of accomplishment and understand the importance of supporting one another, both on and off the course.
