Clay has more than 16 years of experience in the golf and hospitality industries. He most recently served as the general manager at Oldfield Golf Club in Okatie, South Carolina. Over the last decade, Clay has served as general manager at private and daily fee facilities across the country, including The Club at Seven Canyons in Sedona, Ariz.; Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas; Poston Butte Golf Club in Florence, Ariz.; Lake of Isles in Stonington, Connecticut; and Diablo Grande Golf & Country Club in Patterson, Calif. He began his career in golf as an associate golf professional at Copper Canyon Golf Club, a Troon-managed facility in Buckeye, Ariz.

“I am thrilled to join the exceptional team at Broken Top Club,” said Clay. “My passion for delivering unparalleled guest experiences and commitment to excellence aligns perfectly with the club’s mission to provide world-class amenities and a premier lifestyle for its members. I look forward to collaborating with the talented staff and dedicated members to continue building on the club’s legacy of excellence and ensuring Broken Top remains a sought-after destination for luxury living and recreation in Bend, Oregon.”

Originally from Grinnell, Iowa, Clay is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He is a Class-A member of the PGA of America.

“We’re thrilled to have Josh Clay as the new general manager at Broken Top Club,” said Troon Vice President of Operations Ryan Whitney. “Josh has a proven track record of success in the private club industry, and we’re confident that his leadership skills and passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences will take Broken Top to new heights. We look forward to working with him as he leads the team to deliver the high-quality amenities and service that our members and guests expect from a Troon-managed property.”

Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon, oversees the golf operations, food & beverage, golf course agronomy, and membership marketing at Broken Top Club.

Broken Top Club originally opened in 1994 and is considered one of the premier private club experiences in Central Oregon. The property’s name comes from a nearby hollowed-out volcano, the remnants of whose cinder cone forms a jagged edge 9,155 feet above sea level. The club offers a vast array of amenities including an award-winning Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish-designed golf course, an 18-hole putting course, a golf performance center, two tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, and a fitness center with a yoga studio spa and steam rooms. The golf course and property are set in the high desert, in the foothills of the majestic Cascade Mountains. The award-winning 7,161-yard, par 72 course blends traditional design elements with modern routings, bunkers and green complexes. Broken Top’s 27,000-square-foot clubhouse overlooks a six-acre lake and showcases stunning views of the Cascade Mountains.
