A Salute to our Veterans

PGA Hope at East Potomac

In 2024, East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C. proudly hosted its first PGA HOPE program, providing local veterans with the opportunity to connect, learn, and heal through golf. The program, which ran three 6-week sessions, offered Veterans a chance to learn the game’s fundamentals, build camaraderie, and develop skills in a supportive environment.

PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) aims to improve the physical and emotional health of Veterans through golf. Each week, participants learned short-game and swing techniques, culminating in a graduation ceremony on the White and Blue courses. Veterans celebrated their growth and forged lasting bonds along the way. The program’s success was evident, with veterans of all experience levels joining in, and many expressing interest in becoming PGA HOPE ambassadors. “The camaraderie is incredible. Golf provides a chance for Veterans to relax, share stories, and build lifelong friendships,” said Corey Higgs Director of Instruction at East Potomac.

In September, a team of Veterans from the program represented the DC Chapter in the Mid-Atlantic PGA HOPE Cup National Qualifier, shooting an impressive +2 for 9 holes!

As we look to expand programming at more Troon facilities in 2025, we’re excited to serve even more Veterans, with additional PGA staff trained in adaptive golf and a deeper understanding of what our Veterans need. PGA HOPE continues to show how golf can shape lives, change lives, and, in some cases, even save lives. We’re grateful to support those who’ve given so much for our country.
