Giving Back to Our Patriots Through PGA HOPE
At Troon we believe in the power of golf to transform lives. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to support PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), a program designed to bring golf to our Veterans and help them reconnect with their Military Brothers and Sisters.
Mike Karpe, Director of Golf at SaddleBrook TWO and 2023 Southwest PGA Patriot Award winner shares: "Pete’s story made me want to host PGA HOPE classes at SaddleBrook TWO. Who knows how many more Pete’s are out there?"
In August 2023, Mike had the privilege of teaching a group of five Veterans from the Tucson area. After wrapping up the putting portion of the class, Pete (a Veteran) came up to Mike and said, “Thank you for doing this, I haven’t been out of my house in 3 years.” That moment was a reminder of the powerful impact PGA HOPE can have.
In response, Mike helped organize two more PGA HOPE sessions this summer. Each session included over 10 veterans—an opportunity for them to reconnect, improve their game, or just enjoy it for the first time in years. And the impact continues: “Thanks, Mike, you really helped me,” says Matt, another participant. “I was in a dark place, but PGA HOPE and your class gave me that excitement again. I forgot how much I loved golf and enjoyed life.”
The PGA HOPE program is more than just golf lessons—it’s about community, support, and healing. SaddleBrook TWO is proud to have 19 veterans on their Golf Operations Team who exemplify this same spirit. Together, we’re not just playing the game. We’re changing lives.
