OCEAN VIEW, DELAWARE (November 21, 2022) – Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club is pleased to welcome Tim O’Neill as the club’s new general manager. O’Neill will oversee golf operations, food & beverage, agronomy, sales and marketing and maintenance operations for the 27-hole club located in Ocean View, Delaware.

A 23-year veteran of the club and hospitality industries, O’Neill comes to Bear Trap Dunes from Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club in Cape Cod, Massachusetts where he had been serving as the club’s interim general manager. O’Neill began his career in the club industry working as a caddie at Caves Valley Country Club in Owings Mills, Maryland. After pursuing his dream of playing golf professionally on the PGA TOUR, O’Neill landed at Orange Tree Golf Club in Orlando, Florida where he worked his way up through the ranks to the position of club operations manager. Since then, he has led operations at several high profile clubs, including serving as general manager at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas (home of the PGA TOUR’s Byron Nelson Championship) and Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville, Pennsylvania

“Bear Trap Dunes is one of the premier golf clubs in the region. The addition of Tim O’Neill to the team as general manager will allow us to continue to provide a top-quality experience to golfers on the course, and to our members and guests at the Den,” said Nick Freeman, Carl M. Freeman Companies Senior Vice President of Commercial and Hospitality. “With his leadership and experience, Tim will also ensure Bear Trap evolves with the industry to remain at the forefront of golfing destinations in the Delmarva region.”

O’Neill was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, graduating with a degree in criminal justice, while captaining the university’s baseball team. He is a member of the Club Managers Association of America (since 2004) and possesses several business management and food and beverage certifications.

Troon Golf, the resort and daily-fee club operations division of Troon, manages Bear Trap Dunes. For more information on Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club, visit www.beartrapdunes.com or call 302-537-5600.
