Chateau Golf And Country Club Welcomes New Executive Chef Gus Martin

Kenner, Louisiana (November 7, 2024) – Chateau Golf and Country Club in Kenner, Louisiana recently welcomed Chef Gus Martin as the Club’s new executive chef. Chef Martin will oversee all facets of food service and preparation, across the Club’s multiple dining venues.

Chef Martin brings a wealth of culinary expertise and a passion for fine dining to his new role at Chateau Golf and Country Club. He was born and raised in New Orleans, and spent his childhood watching his mother and grandmother cook authentic Creole and Cajun food at home, instilling a passion for the local culinary styles and traditions. He began his culinary career as a teen in the kitchen of Commander’s Palace in New Orleans under the watchful eye of Chef Paul Prudhomme. After high school Martin completed six years of service in the United States Army, before returning home and to his first love, cooking. He’s worked at several high-profile restaurants in New Orleans, including Mr. B’s Bistro where he quickly moved up the ranks to sous chef before moving back to Commander’s Palace to serve as executive sous chef under the late Chef Jamie Shannon. With leadership and organizational skills in hand, Chef Martin was soon promoted to chef de cuisine at Palace Café New Orleans, and then named executive chef. He has also held executive chef positions at Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse, as well as at Ralph Brennan’s Ralph’s on the Park.

A Kenner resident since 1970, Chef Martin has found it to be a natural transition into his new role at Chateau. He has already redesigned many of the Club’s menus, incorporating new items to the all-day menu and adding a Chef’s Tasting Menu on Wednesday evenings.

“I am thrilled to take on this new role at Chateau,” said Chef Martin. “I look forward to working closely with our talented culinary team to create memorable dining experiences for our members and their guests.”

“Chef Gus is a blessing to be leading our Chateau culinary team,” said Chateau Golf and Country Club General Manager Michelle Swanner Yenni. “His knowledge and passion for food is evident in the new menus he is creating for us. His commitment to excellence and his innovative approach to cuisine will ensure that our members enjoy an elevated dining experience that reflects the club’s reputation for quality.”

Located 14 miles from downtown New Orleans, Chateau Golf and Country Club is a full-service country club and is family owned and operated. Known for its warm hospitality, tradition and a landscape that is steeped in elegance, Chateau provides its members and guests with a spectacular range of facilities dedicated to relaxation and enjoyment. Among the amenities, Chateau Golf & Country Club recently renovated the fairways and greens of its 18-hole golf course and added a new cart facility to house its fleet of 2024 EZ GO electric carts with GPS systems. In addition to golf operations, Chateau also has seven clay tennis courts, two hard courts and four pickleball courts. Multiple dining areas are available to members, ranging from fine dining to casual and even poolside, and private rooms and ballrooms are available for special events.
