Naperville, Ill. (January 17, 2023) – The Western Golf Association recently awarded its prestigious Evans Scholarship to Naperville Country Club caddies Jordyn Cleary and Aubrey Nestoras. The Evans Scholarship is a four-year, full-tuition and housing scholarship awarded to deserving caddies that meet the criteria of academic excellence, caddie record, leadership and character, and financial need. Evans Scholars selection meeting interviews will continue nationwide through spring. When the 2022-23 selection meeting process is complete, an estimated 325 caddies are expected to be awarded the Evans Scholarship.

Cleary is a senior at Naperville North High School and plans on studying Business Analytics upon entry into college. Daughter of Joy and Brian Cleary of Naperville, Jordyn is actively involved in her school’s swim team, the National Honor Society, student government and Huskie Crew Leadership. She is also part of the Youth Ministry at St. Margaret Mary Parish, and various other organizations.

Nestoras is a senior at Naperville Central High School and plans on studying Psychology in college. She is the daughter of Kristien Nestoras of Naperville and participates in community projects such as Special Spaces, Link, and the West Suburban Community Pantry. She is also a member of The National Honor Society as well as the Naperville Central High Orchestra.

“We sincerely congratulate Jordyn, Aubrey and their families on this tremendous accomplishment,” said Naperville Country Club General Manager Brad McMillan. “We wish them great success in their college experience and look forward to seeing them on the course this summer before they head off to college.”

“These young students represent what our Program has been about since 1930,” said WGA President and CEO John Kaczkowski. “We are proud to welcome them to the Evans Scholars family.”

The Western Golf Association, headquartered in Glenview, Illinois, has supported the Chick Evans Scholarship Program through the Evans Scholars Foundation since 1930. Known as one of golf’s favorite charities, it is the nation’s largest scholarship program for caddies. Currently, a record 1,100 caddies are enrolled at 22 universities across the nation as Evans Scholars, and more than 11,800 caddies have graduated as Evans Scholars since the program was founded by famed Chicago amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr. Scholarship funds come mostly from contributions by nearly 36,000 supporters across the country, who are members of the Evans Scholars Par Club program. Evans Scholars Alumni donate more than $15 million annually, and all proceeds from the BMW Championship, the penultimate PGA TOUR Playoff event in the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup competition, are donated to the Evans Scholars Foundation. In 2023, the BMW Championship will be held at Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois, from Aug. 17-20.

About Naperville Country Club

Naperville Country Club is a private, member-owned club, managed by Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon. In addition to award-winning golf, Naperville Country Club provides a full array of dining, social and special event programming for the entire family. The club’s patio and restaurant are popular with members providing a place to relax and unwind, and have the best view in town. Naperville Country Club continues to be a social hub for the community, providing a place where members can connect with others, enjoy family-friendly activities and events, while experiencing a variety of club amenities. In 1921, the club featured a 9-hole golf course with sand greens. Shortly after opening, golf course architect Tom Bendelow was engaged to design and build an 18-hole golf course on the 124-acre property. Bendelow’s original layout remained mostly intact until 2006 when architect Steve Forrest of Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest & Associates was commissioned to complete a major course renovation. Emphasis was placed on adding length to the golf course, improving shot values and developing new green complexes. The new Steve Forrest-designed course debuted in July 2007 and winds its way through rolling terrain, mature trees and ponds. The course has earned several national honors, including being named Golf Inc. magazine’s 2009 “Renovation of the Year” for private clubs.
