Desaru Coast, Bandar Penawar, Johor – 21 November 2022 – The Els Club Desaru Coast is a rising golf club and is no stranger to the international golf scene, especially in Malaysia and its neighbouring country, Singapore. Both golf courses under its umbrella, Ocean Course and Valley Course were established in 2016 and 2017, respectively, and have become one of the favourite golf destinations in Peninsular Malaysia.

2022 started wonderfully for the club, as the Ocean Course was recognised “Best of the Best” Golf Shop by the AGM Platinum Awards in January. Recipients of this prestigious award consistently demonstrate efficacious business practices in retail operations.

The three consecutive wins at the Asian Golf Awards in November, which was held at New World Hoiana Hotel in Vietnam, add to the tally of awards that The Els Club Desaru Coast have received in recent years. Announced on November 4, 2022, as Top 3 in three categories, namely “Best Course in Malaysia”, “Best Clubhouse in Asia Pacific”, and “Best Club General Manager of the Year” for Harris Abdullah, General Manager of The Els Club Desaru Coast, these awards are testaments to the excellent work put forth by the management and associates in ensuring that the golf course and the clubhouse are in the best condition throughout time.

After two years in a row that the Valley Course was named “Malaysia’s Best Golf Course”, it’s the Ocean Course’s turn to steal the crown at the 9th Annual World Golf Awards, held in Abu Dhabi recently on November 15, 2022. This prestigious event has witnessed 375 winners based on the world, regional and sub-regional categories. The World Golf Award is one of industry players’ most awaited golf awards as it recognises and rewards excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses and golf destinations.

The Els Club Desaru Coast is a well-known golf course all-over South-East Asia. It provides golfers with an experience beyond golf and international standard playing condition. The club is known for its quality service and professionalism. With its magnificent view and perfect location in the tourism centre of Desaru Coast, Johor, The Els Club Desaru Coast is a great place to have a relaxing golf trip with friends and family.

Upon winning the multiple awards, Harris Abdullah said, “It is an unexpected recognition received by The Els Club Desaru Coast in 2022. Three reputable and renowned awards that we are always looking forward to having recognised our uphill battle in the golf industry and rewarded us with an accolade of recognition that can lift the spirits of all associates and raise our reputation on the global market.”

The Els Club Desaru Coast – Ocean and Valley Courses is an absolute masterpiece created by the major golf champion Ernie Els and Vijay Sigh, further validated with the recently received awards. The club proudly says that they try to deliver world-class experiences every day. They also suggested that golfers come and try it for themselves if they haven’t already made the time to try it.

ABOUT THE ELS CLUB DESARU COAST

The 45-hole property in Desaru Coast, Johor, boasts two Championship courses designed by World Golf Hall of Fame members. The Ocean Course, designed by the club’s namesake and four-time major champion, Ernie Els, is set on one of the most spectacular plots of land anywhere in the world. Overlooking the South China Sea, the course can comprise any two of the three 9-hole courses on-site, offering individual variability. Each layout has its own character and personal touches by Els, but they all take inspiration from the famous links courses spread across the UK, with vast rolling greens and tight run-off areas designed to place a premium on a sharp short game. The Valley Course is an 18-hole golf course designed by major champion Vijay Singh and jointly developed with Ernie Els Design. The course traverses the valleys and stream of Desaru Coast with significant elevation changes providing the most eye-catching vistas. The 18-hole championship golf course covers approximately 41 hectares with 187 bunkers. Complementing the two fantastic golf venues, each class boasts a full-service clubhouse. The Ocean Course clubhouse is a dramatic masterpiece; at 45,000 square feet, it is also home to the 261 Bar and Restaurant; the ultimate 19th hole and the world-renowned Big Easy Bar & Grill; set against the backdrop of the Club’s remarkably scenic golf course and the South China Sea vistas. The Valley Course clubhouse is an al fresco dining area named Lembah, associated with its traditional golf club setup. Each course at The Els Club Desaru Coast is fitted with state-of-the-art practice facilities, including a short game area, grass teeing grounds and The Els Performance Academy. The practice facilities are the perfect place to hone one’s game.
